Miriam Wei Wei Lo writes to find beauty and meaning and to share what she finds with others. This involves probing the gap between what is and what should be.
Miriam Wei Wei Lo writes poetry, reviews, and books for children. She is of mixed Chinese-Malaysian and Anglo-Australian descent. Miriam was born in Canada, grew up in Singapore, and now lives in Western Australia. She studied Literature and History at the University of Western Australia, and has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Queensland. Her first book, Against Certain Capture, won the Western Australian Premier's Prize for Poetry. Her poems have been widely anthologised in publications such as The Fremantle Press Anthology of Western Australian Poetry, Contemporary Asian Australian Poets, and The Penguin Anthology of Australian Poetry. Her first children’s book is Bree’s Forest Adventure. Miriam works part time for Sheridan College. She is married to Mike. They have three children. She loves snorkelling, gardening, talking to God, cooking, bashing out a tune on the piano, and playing with words.
